Verline Harvey Obituary (1958 – 2022) – Chicago, IL

Valinda Denise Harvey, age 63, heard the Lord call her name on January 28, 2022,
when she gained her wings. She was born in Illinois, on the West Side of Chicago,
on April 22, 1958. She is preceded in death by: Her son, Daniel Louis Harvey;
sister, Esperanza Crockett; her father, Joe D. Harvey; and her great grandson,
Zacchias Harvey. She was baptized at an early age at Greater Bethlehem Baptist
Church in Chicago, IL.
Valinda attended both Ulysses S. Grant Grade School, McKinley, and Richard T.
Crane High School. She continued her education further by attending Malcolm X
College and receiving both her associates and bachelor’s degrees in Nursing and
Computer Programming. she was also member of the Christ love order of the
Eastern Star Chapter 55.
Valinda was a hard worker, dedicated mother, and loyal friend. She was fond of
working with people and her dedication for helping others was encouragement. She
continued helping others while being a CNA at Warren Barr Nursing Home, along
with working at the Salvation Army helping those who needed services. She also
worked for Marshall Field’s, where she did customer service and Time magazine,
where she took magazine orders for potential customers.
Her children and grandchildren were the biggest and greatest part of her life. She
was not only a mother to her children, but a mother to every child that crossed her
path. She was friendly to everyone, but that didn’t mean she was to be fooled by
anyone. Valinda was a natural beautician, as she braided almost every little girl’s
hair in our neighborhood. She was a good listener with a big heart. She was kind to
everyone she met and always had a willingness to help when she could. She loved
living life and having fun. Her favorite things to do were listening to music, dancing,
baking, and spending time with her family.
Valinda leaves behind her memories to be cherished by her children: a daughter Kei-
sha, two sons Jamel and Donnie, her daughters-in-law Janel and Shaleka, her grand-
children Kevon, Da’shuana, Keya’e, and Jayla, along with her great grandchildren:
Kayson and Jasiah, and three brothers Michael, Eric, and Darryl, along with a plenti-
ful amount of family and friends who loved her dearly as she loved them. She was
strong, kind-hearted, and loving from birth until her passing.
